The Philippine Council of Health Research and Development (DOST – PCHRD), in collaboration with St. Luke’s Medical Center – College of Medicine-William H. Quasha Memorial (SLMCCM – WHQM), has formally accepted three new scholars to the Master of Science in Molecular Medicine program. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to advancing research and education in the field of molecular medicine.

A significant number of candidates expressed interest in the program, but only a select few were admitted. Among the chosen scholars are Mr. Bryll Jay C. Carilla, Ms. Ma. Antoinette F. Evangelista, and Ms. Angelica Joyce D. Quebec.  Over the course of the two-year program, they will develop advanced skills aimed at innovating medical practice. The curriculum is designed to enhance their skills in cutting-edge biomedical sciences and emerging technologies, preparing them for significant contributions to the field.

The program includes specialized training in St. Luke’s state-of-the-art research laboratories, focusing on the application of molecular medicine in clinical practice. The curriculum covers advanced biotechnologies and foundational sciences, including cell-based therapies, gene therapies, targeted therapies, biomarker technology, molecular diagnostics, pharmacogenomics, and personalized medicine.

On August 19, 2024, an orientation session was held to discuss the obligations under the scholarship program. This program provides substantial support to its recipients, which includes full coverage of school fees, monthly stipends, learning materials and/or connectivity allowance, transportation allowance, group personal accident insurance, and thesis grants.

The scholars will  play a pivotal role in advancing health research in the Philippines. By applying their advanced knowledge and research expertise gained through the program, these graduates will be positioned to make significant and impactful contributions to the field of health research. Their enhanced skills are intended to drive progress and innovation, addressing critical health challenges and advancing medical science within the country.
