PCHRD’s 42nd anniversary to highlight partnerships in health research capacities

The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) is set to celebrate its 42nd anniversary on 25 March 2024 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City, with an anticipated attendance of experts, partners, and stakeholders in the field of health research.

With the theme, “Forging the Future@42: Strengthening Health Research Capacities through Dynamic Partnerships”, the celebration will feature a series of plenary and parallel sessions showcasing the Council’s initiatives in building and strengthening health research capacities, offering insights from various institutions, regional entities, national stakeholders, and international partners. 

Among the highlights of the celebration will be a keynote speech by Dr. Claudio Tiribelli, the Scientific Director of Fondazione Italiana Fegato (FIF) who will discuss the role of strategic international collaborations in enhancing the national research systems’ ability to support health research effectively.

An awarding ceremony will also take place to recognize the contributions of exemplary individuals and institutions in health research, including the 2024 HeaRTNovation Hubs Grantees, winners of the 2024 Capture the HeaRT in Health Research Photo Contest, the distinguished recipient of the 2023 Best Mentor in Health Research award, and the Accredited Research Ethics Committees (RECs) of the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB). 

Afternoon Technical Sessions

Following the main conference, the Council will host the following sessions in the afternoon: 

  1. Talakayang HeaRTBeat Press Conference: This press conference will highlight the partnership between the Philippines and FIF, focusing on the liver research advancements in the Philippines.
  2. HERDIN Collaborative Workshop: Aimed at enhancing the functionality of the national health research database, this workshop will gather inputs from the regional health research consortia.
  3. PAMJE Educational Forum and General Assembly: In line with its mission to elevate health journal publishing standards, PAMJE will host an educational forum to enrich participants’ knowledge and skills.
  4. PCHRD Scholars’ Society (PSS) Annual Convention: Designed to facilitate knowledge exchange and networking among scholars and researchers, this convention ensures members stay updated of the latest advancements in health research.

The celebration will be hosted by Dr. Loraine Kay D. Cabral and Dr. Noel C. Salvoza, DOST-PCHRD Scholars.
