Health Research Awards

PCHRD gives recognition to individuals and groups for their exemplary research efforts and contributions in enhancing health research capabilities.

Alberto Romualdez, Jr. Outstanding Health Research Award (AROHRA)

Every two years, PCHRD, with PNHRS partners, gives the Outstanding Health Research Award (OHRA) to an individual researcher or research group whose research work has been translated to policy and practice. The award is given in two categories: biomedical and health services research.

Best Mentor in Health Research Award

In 2008, the PNHRS Committee on Capacity Building launched this bi-annual search which recognizes and rewards vital contributions of mentors in health research. Awards are given to four cluster winners from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and National Capital Region and one national winner.

DOST-PCHRD Undergraduate Thesis Grant in Natural Products

The DOST-PCHRD Undergraduate Thesis Grant in Natural Products provides fund support to all undergraduate students who will conduct their thesis on natural products. The program aims to sustain a research culture in natural products to increase the number of research and later on build a pool of researchers/experts specializing in the field. The program supports he Drug Discovery and Development program of the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) which aims to develop safe, effective and affordable alternative drugs from the country’s natural resources.

Thesis grants will be given to 2 undergraduate entries per region. After completion of the project, a competition will be held to selected qualified students to recognize innovative work on natural products.
